Bubble Wrap: A True Pop Icon

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This Monday (Jan. 25) marks a big birthday for a true pop icon: Bubble Wrap.

The cushy stuff turns 50 and even in its golden year, its popularity remains.

According to Ken Aurichio – aka “The Professor Of Pop” – of Sealed Air Corporation, there are several weird uses for Bubble Wrap.

It could serve as a drink cozy, body padding for a sumo wrestling match, insulation, or a padded shoe insert.

The Professor’s own wife likes to lay it out in the hallway for those nights he comes home late and tries to tip-toe into the house undetected.

Long recognized as a stress reliever, the Professor says there are two prime techniques for popping Bubble Wrap.

There’s the “roll and twist” where one simulates ringing out a towel, popping many bubbles at once, or the “more civilized” single pop.

To celebrate the icon’s 50th, he recommends jumping on Bubble Wrap collectively with friends, creating the ultimate pop.
