Jerry Stiller Woos Wife With Sticky Fingers

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When Jerry Stiller first met Anne Meara, his wife of 56 years, he stole more than just her heart.

In fact, the funnyman impressed her by stealing silverware from a restaurant.

The couple admit sticky fingers were part of their first date back in 1953 when Stiller invited Meara out for coffee and she refused to let him pay.

Instead, she urged him to nab some silverware off the table, stuff it in his pockets, and scram.

She explains, “My roommate and I needed spoons and forks. People didn’t have zip in those days!”

The couple wed six months after the heist because Meara wouldn’t let Stiller sleep over anymore unless they were married.

They’ve been together ever since.

The comedic duo will tackle a “stretch of a role” as a married couple on NBC’s medical drama, Mercy, November 4.

They joke that they mostly took the gig for the “great caterers” and to celebrate their “125th anniversary.”
