‘Law & Order’ Is Still A Baby

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Law & Order turns 20 this season, but its creator still considers the series a baby.

When the 20th season of Law & Order premieres on NBC tomorrow (Sep. 25), it’ll tie Gunsmoke as the longest-running drama on television.

Creator Dick Wolf says watching his show “grow up” has been just like raising a child.

He’s had to love it, tend to it, and change it over the years and like a kid, “It’s cleaned up nice over time.”

All the proud papa ever wanted from Law & Order was to “like it as much in maturity as I did in infancy,” which he does.

Now that series is finally turning the record-tying big 2-0, Wolf has his sights set on more birthdays.

He says, “I’d like to see it go into middle age.”

As for a 20th anniversary gift, Wolf may spring for traditional china for the set, so “people could throw plates at each other.”
