What’s In My Dog?

NILES, Ill. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Pet owners can now know their dog’s entire history.

Hammacher Schlemmer, an online retailer, is getting masters in better touch with their pooches with the Canine Genealogy Kit.

By sending in a cotton swab that’s been rubbed on the inside of a dog’s cheek, the company can provide scientific confirmation of their dog’s breed, what physical and behavioral characteristics they have or will have according to those breeds, and the health risks they may face.

Spokesperson Mary Warren says the service is “neat,” especially for those who treat their pets like their children because they get to know everything that they can’t actually ask their pups.

She adds, “It’ll make you more aware of what to watch out for in your dogs.”

Though the information provided is extensive, Warren laments that it cannot tell a master if their dog is of famous or royal lineage.
