‘Idol’ Eliminee Is No Justin Timberlake

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You can call American Idol cast-off Matt Giraud many things, but don’t call him a Justin Timberlake wannabe.

Giraud, who was voted of the singing competition this past Wednesday (Apr. 29), was often compared to Timberlake due to his vocal style and look.

However, the Michigan native assures that he’s no JT since he’s got a more rockin’ sound.

Giraud says, “It’s a little annoying to be compared to Justin. They see a white guy with soul and they make that connection. I respect what he does, but that’s not where I want to go. I’d rather be rockin’ out with a band.”

The singer and piano man hopes to call musicians like Gavin DeGraw and The Fray his peers one day, and get down on the piano before crowds of fans.

Until then, Giraud is looking forward to seeing his name on trivia cards as the first American Idol contestant to ever be saved from elimination from the judges.

Idol airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FOX.
