Pirate Rockers Recruit Tiny Scallywag Army

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A band of pirate rockers are turning tiny tots into hard-partying scallywags.

Captain Bogg & Salty is a buccaneer rock band based in Portland, Oregon, who dress up like pirates and sing kid-friendly jams about the high seas like “Don’t Drink Sea Water,” “Never Smile At A Crocodile,” and “Scurvy.”

Frontman Loren Hoskins, a.k.a. Captain Bogg, says their swashbuckling songs are “silly, not necessarily about pillaging,” and are helping the group build a mini pirate army.

In fact, their tunes have gotten kids to speak pirate before they even speak English.

He says, “We’ve had several people tell us that their kid’s first word was ‘Yar!’ because we scream it out at our shows.”

Tiny fans even curl their fingers to look like a hook, don their best pirate rags, and hit the dance floor in what Hoskins describes as “Fisher Price: My First Moshpit.”

Captain Bogg & Salty’s latest album, Emphatical Piratical is out now.
