Mayim Bialik Recalls Busy ‘Blossom’ Set

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Back in the early ’90s, there was never a dull moment on the set of Blossom.

Just ask former series star Mayim Bialik, who played smart, eccentric Blossom Russo on the popular sitcom.

According to Bialik, the set of Blossom was constantly buzzing, even when the cameras weren’t rolling.

She recalls performing stand-up “comedy bits” between takes with her onscreen bro Joey Lawrence, and singing Wilson Phillips songs with her TV best friend, Jenna von Oy.

Bialik laughs, “Jenna has always had a great voice, and we were pretty good at harmonizing.”

The BFFs also took tap and jazz dance classes on the set, which led to many impromptu performances both on and off camera.

She says, “We would practice so much, but we loved it!”

In addition, costume fittings kept Bialik busy, especially because her quirky character was known for wearing a “mixture of ethnic stuff.”

Seasons one and two of Blossom come out on DVD January 27.
