Beer Goggles Curb Shameful New Year’s Hookups

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A good set of beer goggles could actually help you avoid shameful New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) hookups.

Scott Urban makes unique, handcrafted glasses and sells them on his site urbanspectacles.com.

Among the quirky specs, Urban crafts actual “Beer Goggles” out of old bottles of brew.

The frames are made from the rounded bottoms of beer bottles, and Urban puts either sunglass lenses or prescription lenses inside.

He can make Beer Goggles out of any bottle, big or small, though he says domestic beer bottles are flimsier than thicker microbrew bottles.

Urban jokes that the novelty glasses would be good protection at a New Year’s bash, since with prescription lenses in place, you could clearly see who you’re planting a smooch on at midnight.

However, after a few drinks, the glasses may not make a difference.

Urban drew inspiration for his Beer Goggles during a time when he was “drinking too much” and would find beer bottles scattered around his house.

He’s also made specs with odd materials like wood and bicycle parts.
