Whiskey And Egg Nog: A Caroler’s Poison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Knocking back whiskey and egg nog ruins Christmas caroling for everyone.

Singing coach Renee Grant-Williams says sipping on alcohol while out caroling can do nasty things to your singing voice.

She explains, “A lot of people carry a flask with them or have too much spiced egg nog. That tends to dry out your voice. One drink wouldn’t be bad, but too much holiday cheer adds up against you.”

Getting roasted on alcohol can also turn an innocent caroling session into what Grant-Williams calls a “sloppy mess” that no one will enjoy hearing, and recommends sticking to bottled water or a hot drink carried in a thermos.

Though she assures you don’t have to be a great singer to make beautiful music, Grant-Williams has a sly tip to make “Jingle Bells” a hit.

She advises carolers to stand on the balls of their feet – a trick divas like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera use on stage – because it helps support tone and forces sound out.
