Alan Thicke Bows Down To Musical Son

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Alan Thicke has come to terms with the fact that his kid, Robin Thicke, rocks more than he does.

Thicke – known for playing TV dad Jason Seaver on Growing Pains – was in a rock ’n’ roll band in college, but admits he wasn’t nearly as talented as his Grammy-winning son.

He laughs, “I sang, played guitar, and wrote songs but I would NEVER call myself a musician in front of my son! I wish I could say he got his singing talents from me, but I KNOW he didn’t!”

The proud papa used to jam with Robin in his “early days of songwriting” but it wasn’t long before student became teacher.

Thicke recalls, “We’d write a couple songs together, but by the time Robin was 16, he was already too good for me. He surpassed me in about a minute and a half! It was thrilling to watch him grow. I have great respect for what my son does.”
