Quiz Reveals: ‘How Dumb Are You?’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When it comes to important factoids, people are pretty dumb.

That’s what Best Week Ever funnyman Adam Winer discovers in his new book, How Dumb Are You? The Great American Stupidity Quiz (National Lampoon Press).

Winer asks 65 questions every American should be able to answer but often can’t, like “What’s the capital of Canada?” and “At what temperature does water boil?”

Turns out, 43 percent of Americans don’t know Ottawa is the capital of “that huge country right above us,” and 71 percent can’t remember that water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

Winer says the most embarrassing question people can’t answer is “Who’s the president on the dime?”

He rants, “People always have dimes in their pockets but they can’t tell you who the old dude is on their money!”

Winer says people often “push out” general trivia from their brains to make room for hot celebrity gossip.

He admits he can’t answer some of the questions on the quiz and knew it was time to study when he realized he had no idea where Nebraska was on a map.
