Nurse Declares War On Popular Pregnancy Book

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One prenatal nurse claims the popular pregnancy book What To Expect When You’re Expecting (Workman) is a crock.

Tori Kropp has been delivering babies for more than 21 years and has major beef with Heidi Murkoff’s book, What To Expect, because it’s extremely negative and “fear-based.”

Kropp says the book tackles every pregnancy question in a paranoid, misrepresented manner that makes pregnant women stress and worry.

She says the negative phrasing in the book makes pregnancy scary and less enjoyable, and she’s crusading for a change.

Kropp has her own book, The Joy Of Pregnancy (Harvard Common Press), and wants it to become the new go-to preggo guide.

She believes her book is more positive and focuses on the fun aspects of pregnancy rather than the terror.

She says the biggest pregnancy misconceptions stem from “old wives tales” about restricted diets and exercise.

Because of her prenatal nursing experience, Kropp believes she’s a legit pregnancy resource and challenges Heidi Murkoff to an open, public debate about her “outdated” book.
