Somerhalder who played Boone Carlyle on Lost stars in a new Sci-Fi Channel movie called Lost City Raiders, which is set 40 years in the future, when global warming has raised ocean levels and 70 percent of the Earths land is under water.
Somerhalder says he was wet the whole time on the set, but admits the Waterworld-style stunts were fun to do, especially the scenes where he got to ride a high-speed jet ski.
The film shot in the oceans of Cape Town, South Africa, and Somerhalder says the sea was ruthless.
He explains, We were in the ocean in 60 mph winds. Seeing these 15-foot waves rising out of the ocean was very bizarre!
Still, he was able to tackle the crazy climate and thinks his New Orleans upbringing may have helped him, since he experienced severe weather changes growing up on the Gulf Coast.
Lost City Raiders premieres Saturday (Nov. 22) on Sci- Fi.
