‘Crusoe’ Actor Can’t Stand Himself

GIBBSTON, New Zealand (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The thought of spending too much time with himself truly scares actor Sam Neill.

Neill – best known for his role in Jurassic Park – stars in Crusoe, a new NBC series about infamous castaway Robinson Crusoe, which premieres tonight (Oct. 17).

Neill plays Crusoe’s mysterious mentor but admits he’d never be able to live stranded on an island.

He says being alone 24/7 would be scary and unbearable, and adds, “My own company all the time would freak me out! You think it’d be nice to spend time alone, gathering your thoughts, but not really.”

Instead, Neill prefers to live in his secluded vineyard, Two Paddocks, in Gibbston, New Zealand, in the company of delicious wine.

His favorite varietal is pinot noir, and his strict regimen is to have two glasses of it per night.

There’s also plenty to eat on the vineyard, unlike a deserted island.

Neill likes to pair his pinots with wild salmon, but notes, “I make pinot noir go with anything!”
