Yankee known for his hit reggaeton song Gasolina is tackling Hollywood next with the lead role in the film, Talento de Barrio.
Yankee plays a Puerto Rican who tries to rise above the violent gang battles in his shady neighborhood, and admits the movie biz is much different than laying down tracks in the studio.
He explains, It was a little weird acting. In music you have the option to be in the studio expressing yourself and how you feel, but in acting you dont have that option. You have to stay in character, focused on the role youre playing. You cant just go off and freestyle.
Although the battles in his film are make-believe, Yankee understands the notorious West Coast/East Coast rap battle is still going strong.
He claims the two sides arent much different, except for the weather.
He adds, California definitely wins that battle any day!
