Robert Englund Gets A Silly Slaying

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Legendary horror actor Robert Englund can’t help but laugh when he turns into a monster.

Englund – best known for playing the ultimate horror villain Freddie Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street – is giving his latest movie monster a funny twist.

Englund stars in the slasher flick Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, as a professor who gets possessed and transforms into a nasty, tentacled, people-eating beast.

For the role, Englund got to exercise his comedic chops.

He says, “I get to do gross-out comedy and be like Jabba the Hutt meets Ghostbusters. It’s very different from doing Freddie, but I think audiences will accept me having some fun.”

Though Englund says his character is “certainly monstrous” because it “destroys everything in its path with its tentacles,” he doesn’t compare to Freddie, who he calls “the nastiest movie monster ever.”

Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer hits theaters this Friday (Aug. 15).
