‘Eureka’ Responsible For Techie Trend?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Eureka! The technologically savvy Sci-Fi Channel series Eureka may be responsible for the latest techie trends.

Series star Colin Ferguson believes the show about a small town of scientific geniuses started the whole hand-held PDA craze, because the characters are constantly using the gadgets onscreen.

Ferguson says, “We used PDAs way before the iPhone ever came out.”

Executive producer Jaime Paglia adds, “We really should be getting a cut of the Apple iPhone money, we’re just being really cool about it.”

But off the set, Ferguson admits he’s not necessarily the most devoted techie.

While he “likes technology a lot,” he only really upgrades his gadgets when he absolutely needs to.

He explains, “I’m not the guy waiting in line for a new iPhone, but I do have a bluetooth and GPS in my car. I get my technology in bursts, not all the time.”

Season three of Eureka premieres Tuesday (Jul. 29) on Sci-Fi.
