Dishwashing Dreamer Gives Up His Goal

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dishwashing is too much work, even for the greatest dishwasher in America.

For 12 years, Pete Jordan, also known as “Dishwashing Pete,” traveled across the United States to satisfy his main goal in life: To wash dishes in every state in the country.

However, the task got too tiring, and after only cleaning up 33 states Jordan threw out his sponge, moved to Amsterdam, and wrote about his adventures in his book, Dishwasher: One Man’s Quest to Wash Dishes in all 50 States (Harper Perennial).

Jordan says, “I was the No. 1 dishwasher in America. The thing is, I hate working, so my goal was really frustrating because it meant I had to work. I wish I had picked something I liked, like riding ferry boats or eating ice cream in all 50 states.”

Though he’s given up on his wishy-washy dream, Jordan admits he still gets a hankering to bust out the dishrag once in a while, but his wife keeps him in check.

He has high hopes for his son to continue his sudsy journey some day.
