Cherry Pit-Spitting Contest Is A Tournament Of Champions

EAU CLAIRE, Mich. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It takes good genes and tongue technique to be a pit-spitting champion.

The 35th Annual Cherry Pit-Spitting Championship is spewing into Eau Claire, Michigan, this Saturday (Jul. 5), and contestants will attempt to spit a cherry pit as far as they can.

But there’s some stiff competition from one unstoppable spitting dynasty.

Event coordinator Lynn Sage says, “The Krause family are very strong competitors. The father, “Pellet Gun” Krause is a 14-time winner and his son “Young Gun” is in the Guinness Book of World Records. People will have to step up their game if they want to take them down.”

Sage believes the Krause’s are kings of pit-spitting because of “some weird hereditary thing,” and because they’ve mastered the “damascus tongue curl” spitting method, in which you roll your tongue like a pellet gun and propel the pit with a blast of air from the lungs.

A 17-year-old Canadian girl is looking to take down the Krause dynasty, and Sage thinks crowning a new winner would be “spectacular.”
