First Generation Beatles Fans Reveal Memories Of Fab Four

WESTHAMPTON, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Beatles are responsible for some of their fans’ fondest memories.

Lifelong Beatles fan Garry Berman has just penned We’re Going To See The Beatles! (Santa Monica Press), the history of Beatlemania in America as experienced by the Fab Four’s most devoted fans.

Berman – who became a Beatles fan at age three while dancing to “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” in his parents’ basement – spent years tracking down fans who lived through the height of Beatlemania and wanted to share their unique stories in his book.

One of Berman’s favorite fans is a woman who claims to be the “first American Beatles fan,” since she had a pen- pal in Liverpool around 1961 that would send her records, articles, and stories about the Beatles years before they ever hit the States.

Another woman was just nine years old when she found herself on the same train that was taking the Beatles to their first U.S. concert in Washington, D.C., and she ended up chatting for hours with Ringo Starr.

Berman wishes he could’ve experienced the fans’ memories first-hand, especially attending the Beatles’ infamous concert at Shea Stadium in 1965.
