‘Idol’ Cast-Off Not Banking On Her 15 Minutes Of Fame

MULBERRY, Ind. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol rocker Amanda Overmyer isn’t banking on her reality show stardom just yet.

The Southern-style rocker chick was given the boot from Idol this past Wednesday (Mar. 19), and although she’d still like to break into the music biz, she’s not going to chase the elusiveness of fame.

Overmyer explains, “I really hope my music career works out, but if Idol is just my 15 minutes of fame, that’s okay. I’m not going to chase fame trying to get it back. I’m going to make calculated decisions to achieve success for myself. Success is different for everyone.”

Still, Overmyer is thankful for her Idol exposure, and glad she made her mark as a “unique artist” on the show.

She says, “It’s very warming that I had that much support from America, even though I was cut out of a different mold than the other contestants. I was like a square peg in a round hole. I know I’m different, but it’s cool to see that I’m unique in the nation’s eyes too.”

American Idol airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FOX.
