‘Ghost Hunters’ Catch Paranormal Pranksters

WARWICK, R.I. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Professional ghost hunters Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson can spot a fake haunting from a mile away.

Hawes and Wilson – stars of The Sci-Fi Channel series Ghost Hunters – have been investigating paranormal activity for more than 17 years, and have dealt with their fair share of fake hauntings and staged spooks.

Once, they were investigating a man’s home for ghostly evidence but instead discovered that the owner of the house had built a speaker system into the wall and was using it to fake spooky sounds to make the house appear haunted.

Another time, Hawes and Wilson were called to explore a “haunted” restaurant which turned out to be a total sham.

The entire restaurant was rigged with bad wiring and lighting to give it a ghostly vibe, and they ended up fixing the building’s phony problems.

Hawes says, “We took the wisea■■ angle on that one and just fixed their wiring. They couldn’t trick us.”

And although many of the places they’ve researched have looked spooky, appearances can be deceiving.

Says Wilson: “We’ve visited ancient houses, straight off Scooby Doo, that weren’t actually haunted!”

Season four of Ghost Hunters premieres tonight (Mar. 5) on Sci-Fi.
