Martin Luther King Jr.: ‘I Have A Drink’

BOSTON (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Martin Luther King Jr. is celebrated for having a dream, and on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 21), Americans can toast the late Civil Rights leader by having a drink.

A couple of mixologists have created special cocktails honoring King that are perfect for celebrating his big day.

New York-based drinkmaster Daniel Delson invented a concoction called the “King Cola,” which blends Coca Cola, Jim Beam, Chambord, and a cherry garnish together for a delicious MLK Jr. Day cocktail.

Delson says the drink has a “sweet southern charm” to it, and can be enjoyed by “everyone, everywhere.”

But Boston-based mixologist Steve Capioccia thinks his drink, “The MLK,” is the one that’ll have people marching in the streets.

The MLK combines Captain Morgan Rum, light cream, and Kahlua in a glass rimmed with sugar and instant coffee, with a Hershey Kiss garnish on top.

And while Capioccia understands that King wasn’t a big drinker, he believes MLK would appreciate The MLK because the idea behind it is to “bring people together and inspire curiosity” about King’s legacy, and remind people of the impact he had on America.
