The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology has the perfect holiday gift for the businessman on your list: A necktie that wards off evil spirits.
The necktie comes in navy or wine colors, and is imprinted with a laurel leaf pattern modeled after ancient Roman artifacts.
As legend has it, laurel leaves are renowned for their ability to ward off evil spirits and inspire prophetic visions, and museum retail manager Susan West says businessmen could benefit from the silky Roman Laurel Leaf tie in a big way.
West says, Since the tie inspires prophetic visions, perhaps businessmen could foresee market conditions, and conduct business accordingly. They may be able to use the tie to foresee raises and maybe even to ward off an evil boss!
And while the tie may possess prophetic powers, West says its still suitable for everyday wear, in or out of the office.
She adds, Its a club tie with a fun backstory that anyone can wear. But classical history buffs may really enjoy the Roman motif.
