‘Cool Tools’ Host Takes Cues From Handy Dandy Wife

DENVER (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For handy host Chris Grundy, home is where the heart – and the tool expert – is.

Grundy – who hosts DIY Network’s new series Cool Tools – says although he makes a living schooling viewers on tools, he learns his tool tricks from a very handy woman at home – his wife.

Grundy explains, “My wife has made our furniture, welded our bed, and has done everything around the house you can imagine. She’s the real tool pro!”

And it’s not just Grundy’s wife who knows her way around a tape measure – his father-in-law is a professional welder who’s also constantly helping Grundy master his tool training.

Says Grundy: “I married into a handy family. My father- in-law knows everything about welding. When I got married I had to become handy too, otherwise my family would make fun of me!”

Luckily, Grundy’s current gadget gig is helping him nail his tool knowledge, and scoring him points with his fixin’ family.

He says, “I pick up a lot of ideas from the show and then come home and share them with my wife. I’m like, ‘Look what I can do, honey!’ She’s proud that I’m learning to respect the tools.”

Cool Tools premieres Thursday (Nov. 22) on DIY Network.
