‘Star Trek’ Actress Hopes For A Modern Movie Cameo

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Star Trek alumna Nichelle Nichols wants to bodly go where she has gone before – into the revamped Star Trek flick!

Nichols – famous for playing Uhura in the original Star Trek saga – is excited about director J.J. Abrams’ new version of Star Trek, slated for release late 2008, and she wouldn’t mind having a small part in the flick.

Says Nichols, “It would be so nice to have a cameo in the movie. I would love it!”

Like her Trekker co-star Leonard Nimoy, who played the original Spock, Nichols would love to take the new Uhura, played by Zoe Saldana, under her wing.

Nichols explains, “I’m looking forward to meeting Zoe. The new Spock, who’s played by Zachary Quinto, has already talked to Leonard [Nimoy] and he’s very excited about becoming a Trekker. Leonard is happy he’s in the movie too.”

And while Nichols is ecstatic about the remake, she believes she’s not the only one.

Nichols adds, “It’s just terrific to know that [Star Trek creator] Gene Roddenberry’s legacy will live on, in the same image as the original. I bet you Gene is up in Heaven right now going, ‘Oh, yeah. Right On!’”
