Joking Jesus Riles Up Religious Right

GLASTONBURY, England (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Jesus is back, and people are getting pissed!

The Gospel of the Second Coming... Jesus is back and this time he’s funny! (Hay House), on shelves now, is a funny, fictional portrayal of a present-day Jesus correcting the controversial misunderstandings surrounding his history.

Co-author Timothy Freke says that while the book is ultimately “a teaching story with a soft heart,” all the funny philosophy and religious ribbing comes at a controversial cost.

He says, “We didn’t set out to offend anyone, but we inevitably will. We haven’t gotten any death threats, but we’ve gotten an awful lot of after-death threats!”

And Freke says the joking Jesus has his target on a true Tinseltown troublemaker.

Freke says, “I talk to Jesus a lot, and he’s expressed a great deal of concern for Mel Gibson.

Freke’s book tour begins today (Oct. 22) in Boulder, Colorado, and runs until October 31. For more info, check out
