Pre-Teen Rockers Find Inspiration In Care Bears

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For a trio of pre-teen rockers, finding the perfect name for their band was as simple as setting fire to some cute, cuddly Care Bears.

Kiddie rockers Care Bears On Fire (CBOF) have been busting out songs from their debut album, I Stole Your Animal, all over clubs in New York City, and 12-year-old drummer, Izzy, says their punk power comes from their rebellious band name, which was coined after a trip to Burger King.

Says Izzy: “I got a Happy Sunshine Care Bear in my kids’ meal and we started thinking how funny it would be if there were mean Care Bears like ‘Don’t Make Me Hate You’ bear. Then Care Bears on fire came to mind and we all thought, ‘That’s the perfect name for our band!’”

Still, when it comes to musical inspiration, singer-guitarist Sophie says her seventh-grade punk posse looks way beyond their kids’ meals.

Sophie explains, “We like to walk around town to get inspiration for our songs, and then we jot down notes and collaborate. We’re all big fans of Joan Jett, The Pretenders, and The Ramones, so we want to rock like them!”

CBOF’s I Stole Your Animal drops October 2.
