Joey Fatone Is No Karaoke King

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Joey Fatone is the host with the most on The Singing Bee, but he’s definitely not rushing the stage as a karaoke contestant any time soon.

Fatone – who was a singing pro during his ’Nsync days – admits he’d rather host the karaoke competitions on The Singing Bee than be in them.

Says Fatone: “I think I would suck as a contestant on the show! I would know enough to stay in by the skin of my teeth, but that’s it. Even as the host I sometimes look at the answer cards and don’t know the lyrics to a song. I’m like, ‘What the heck? I never knew those were the words!”’

Fatone believes the nail in the karaoke coffin for him would be singing any “long or fast songs,” like Don McLean’s “American Pie,” or R.E.M.’s mouthful, “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine).”

Still, there are a few sing-along tunes he’s confident he could turn out.

Fatone says, “I would rock Rick Springfield’s ‘Jessie’s Girl,’ and if the band starts playing more ’Nsync songs, I could jam to those too!”

The Singing Bee returns to NBC September 25.
