Alphaville Is Not ‘Forever Young’

BERLIN (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The past success of one 80’s band isn’t keeping them from looking toward the future.

Alphaville is best known for their 80’s pop classic “Forever Young,” and according to singer Marian Gold, the song’s success still surprises him, especially in unexpected places.

Gold says, “It’s always very strange for me to hear one of our songs. I never get used to it. When I go to restaurants, I feel kind of safe, and then suddenly the song comes on and I feel like the spotlight is on me.”

And despite Alphaville’s ongoing European success, and “Forever Young’s” classic role in commercials and films, including Napoleon Dynamite, the tune that really took a toll on the band was played by Father Time.

He says, “People recognize me, but not as much anymore. People connect me to how I looked 25 years ago, but I look much different now – I have a beard!”

Alphaville will play at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario, on October 27.
