‘Survivor’ Host Enjoys Adventurers’ Anguish

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Survivor: China host Jeff Probst isn’t feeling the heat when it comes to contestants’ complaints on the raw reality show.

As host of Survivor, Probst has explored exotic locations like Fiji, Marquesas, and Palau, and for the new season, which takes place on two separate islands in China, Probst’s participants found themselves in hot water.

He says, “It’s very hot, and they’d come back to their camps and find them flooded out, which is very demoralizing. The first six or seven days are really hard on people.”

But the blistering heat is the only warm embrace these contestants are getting.

Probst says, “I try to remind people that, ‘You did step out on a major, for-real adventure, and you’re not going back to a hotel room!’”

And according to Probst, all the heat and humiliation make for exciting episodes.

He says, “People are stressed out very early, which is great for the show.”

Survivor: China premieres September 20 on CBS.
