59-Year Old Texan Suiting Up For The Gridiron

ALPINE, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Rudy ain’t got nothin’ on one inspiring Texas football hero.

While most 59-year olds are gearing up for retirement, Mike Flynt is getting ready to hit the field as a player for Sul Ross State University’s Division III football team.

Flynt earned his spot on the college squad after a 37-year hiatus from football, and he’s become an inspiration to the team due to his fitness and morale-boosting determination.

Head coach Steve Wright calls Flynt “one of the strongest players,” and adds, “He gives many of the players hope, and inspires them to not take no for an answer. I think we all have a lot to learn from Mike.”

And while the hype surrounding Flynt would make a marvelous movie, Wright wants to keep the focus on the field.

He says, “I can’t have the players thinking about who’ll play them in the movie, though I’m sure they already do.”
