At least thats what usually happens on his late night IFC series, The Henry Rollins Show, where stars like Don Cheadle, William Shatner, and Ben Stiller join Rollins to talk about politics, current events, and enjoy uncut musical performances.
While Rollins has kept many guest stars on their toes, it was candid actor Samuel L. Jackson who was most recently shocked by Rollins on-screen questions.
Rollins explains, Instead of asking Sam about his movies or stating the obvious fact that hes a great actor, I asked him about his involvement with the Civil Rights movement in the 60s, about how he was an usher at Martin Luther Kings funeral, and about equal rights. He was shocked and speechless that I knew those things about him, and that I wanted to talk about real issues.
And although interviews with A-listers about Hollywood gossip could garner better ratings for Rollins, hes not about to change his line of questioning.
He adds, Im in the business of interesting, intelligent questions. I dont care about who the pretty Hollywood lady is dating.
The Henry Rollins Show airs Friday nights on IFC.
