Freedom Burns Brightly For Patriotic Performer

BURBANK, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One performer is firing up crowds with his burning ode to the stars and stripes.

Bertie Higgins had a hit way back in 1981 with “Key Largo,” but it’s his new song “Flags on Fire” – an ode to respecting the flag – that’s getting the highest salute from audiences.

Higgins says, “Patriotism has been suffering, but surely not in front of the crowds I’ve been playing to.”

In fact, Higgins has received a steady stream of e-mails from fans who support his All-American spirit.

He adds, “People get on their feet when I sing. It brings people to tears. It’s amazing and so gratifying.”

And he’s getting some frenzied fans of his patriotic jam outside U.S. borders too.

Higgins’ song of freedom was picked up by a Canadian radio station, because, in Higgins’ words, “They may not be from America, but they get what’s in my heart.”
