Real-Life Fatherhood Is More Difficult Than Acting

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor David DeLuise will be playing a dad on the upcoming Disney Channel series, Wizards Of Waverly Place, but he says real-life fatherhood is much harder than on-screen parenting.

DeLuise – who’s the son of legendary comic, Dom DeLuise – says being an on-screen dad to his “wizard kids,” Jake Austin, David Henry, and Selena Gomez, is a breeze compared to parenting his two real-life kids.

DeLuise jokes, “ The difference is, my TV daughter [Selena Gomez] actually likes me! Also, my TV kids actually think I’m funny, but my real kids are embarrassed by my behavior most of the time.”

But while parenting on a sitcom is fun, DeLuise admits he’s much more of a laid back dad on the show than he is in real life.

He explains, “In one episode, I have to teach Selena how to drive, which was really fun. But believe me, in reality, I am definitely NOT looking forward to teaching my 13-year-old daughter to drive. I don’t think there’s a wide-open space big enough for me to feel safe with her behind the wheel!”

Wizards Of Waverly Place premieres this fall.
