Thats the suggestion from parenting pro Robert Wilder who has written a book called what else? Daddy Needs A Drink (Delta), where he talks about his experiences as a proud papa.
Wilder admits that with the non-stop craziness of parenting, Daddy may actually need a drink from time to time.
Says Wilder: Being a dad can get pretty intense, so once in a while its okay to crack open a beer at a barbecue, even if your kids are around. If its done in moderation, theres no reason why dads cant enjoy a brew in between diaper changes sometimes.
But booze may also be the key to enjoying playtime with your kids.
Wilder explains, A cocktail can really enhance a game of Barbies or Thomas The Tank. If you have a drink before you play, you wont mind sitting on the floor with your kids for an hour making engine sounds because youre more relaxed. The kids will have fun because youre having fun. This way, everyone wins.
