William Shatner Is An ‘Animal’ Behind The Wheel

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – William Shatner is usually a nice guy, but when it comes to racing cars, he’s a wild man.

Shatner – who puts the pedal to the metal in ABC’s Fast Cars & Superstars series – says nothing makes him more of a maniac than racing stock cars against other celebs on the NASCAR speedway.

Says Shatner: “My family is aghast when I race, but I love it. I’m overwhelmed by extreme fear, but that helps me become a stronger, crazier driver.”

While Shatner tries to keep his composure during his races, he admits something changes inside him every time he steps on the gas.

He jokes, “I’m usually a meek, mild person but when I’m racing my meek, mild personality flies out the window and I turn into a ravening animal behind the wheel. There’s profuse sweat on my upper lip and my hands get hairier. I’m an animal!”

Fast Cars & Superstars: Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race airs Thursdays.
