Thats the scoop from Rulin, who admits pretending to be an ace at the piano in order to play her musically-gifted character, Kelsi Nielsen.
Says Rulin: Ive taken a couple piano lessons and learned to play the beginnings of the songs in the movie but thats about it. Towards the end of the songs I just fake my playing because I cant keep up, but its fun trying.
Despite her amateur skills, Rulin says being in the High School Musical films has helped her ear and inclination for music.
She explains, Ive gotten so much more interested in playing music and Im always asking our experts to teach me new songs on the piano. I cant really get good in just a month of filming, but one day Ill be able to play Chopsticks like a pro!
High School Musical 2 premieres on the Disney Channel August 17th, and the films first music video, What Time Is It debuts tomorrow (June 9).
