Comedian Bill Bellamy Cracks Under Pressure

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Comedian Bill Bellamy is a seasoned funny man, but back in the day, he crashed and burned during one of his college stand-up routines.

Bellamy – who gained notoriety on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam – has never been able to live down an experience where he completely cracked under pressure during his comedy act, and was booed off stage in front of his friends.

Says Bellamy: “I was in college and idolized Robin Williams because he was so good at winging jokes on stage without rhyme or reason. I decided to be like Robin and wing a bunch of jokes during one of my routines, and the crowd hated me and started booing and yelling for me to get off stage. It was so embarrassing!”

And while the crowd’s remarks cut deep, Bellamy insists the worst part of his comedy flop was the car ride home with his friends afterward.

He says, “My friends ripped on me so bad the whole way home and I didn’t even have a comeback. For like three weeks they gave me crap about the routine until they had nothing left to say!”

Bellamy will help show comedians how to succeed on stage when he hosts Last Comic Standing 5 premiering June 13.
