Freaks Come Out For Birthday Bash

NEW YORK CITY (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Punk icon Joey Ramone of The Ramones is dead, but with the help of his family and some fun-loving freaks, his legend lives on.

The seventh Annual “Joey Ramone Birthday Bash” is being held at New York’s Irving Plaza this Saturday (May 19), and to celebrate Joey’s 56th birthday, baby-bro Mickey Leigh is making sure this bash is one his rockin’ brother would be proud of.

Joey’s signature parties served to showcase local talent as well as the stranger side of NYC life, and according to Leigh, this year will be no different.

He says, “The party is a great way to get exposure for some new bands, but I’m still trying to make it as wild and crazy as possible.”

In addition to headliners The New York Dolls and a host of local bands, the party features Tyler Fyre’s Lucky Daredevil Thrillshow.

Says Leigh, “It’s the essence of The Ramone’s; a little bit of weirdness, a little bit of romanticism, and a lot of youthful indiscretion.”
