Wrestler Steve Austin Now A ‘Condemned’ Man

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Stone Cold Steve Austin is best known as a wrestler, but now he’s happy to be Condemned.

The Condemned is the title of Austin’s new movie and it marks his first role as a leading man.

Austin plays a man stuck in a El Salvadoran prison, who is freed in order to participate in a violent – and illegal – reality show.

He admits the part was definitely tailored for him.

As he puts it, “[The character] is definitely close to me, whereas Stone Cold Steve Austin is me turned up to 10!”

Still, he says that the choreographed fight scenes took a little work, since he’s used to improvising fights based on the crowd response, and admits he “stuck to the script” more than he would during a pro wrestling bout.

Austin is thrilled with the final product – but even happier with what DIDN’T make it into the final cut.

He admits: “There’s a scene where I was supposed to be running on the beach holding two machine guns and I fell on my face.”

The Condemned hits theaters on Friday (Apr. 27).
