‘American Idol’ Cast-Off Loses Herself In Competition

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol cast-off Stephanie Edwards was criticized by judges for “losing steam” during the competition.

Now, she admits it’s because she lost sight of herself.

Edwards, who was voted off this past Wednesday (March 21), says she wasn’t “too shocked” to be kicked off the show since she “sort of forgot” who she was along the way.

She admits feeling extra pressure when the judges started “constantly comparing” her to contestants Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones, so she says she changed herself in order to keep up.

Says Edwards: “I started to sing big ballads like Melinda and Lakisha when what I should’ve done is stick to what I do best, which is singing upbeat songs and performing.”

Still, Edwards is happy she “went for it” and sang different tunes on Idol but hopes the remaining contestants don’t change themselves for the show.

She adds, “All of them are so musically different, they just shouldn’t be afraid to show what they’ve got.”
