Jacob Vargas: ‘Being Mexican Saved Me From Being Sick’

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Jacob Vargas says being Mexican saved him months of stomach agony while filming in the Moroccan desert.

Vargas was recently in Ouarzazate, Morocco, filming the horror flick The Hills Have Eyes 2 and while the rest of the cast had a hard time keeping down the exotic food, Vargas thanks his ancestry for his stomach of steel.

Says Vargas: “I’m a very adventurous eater. I’m Mexican so I’m used to eating cow tongue tacos and brain tacos – I had horse steak once and zebra – I’ll try anything once. Not everyone in the cast was as adventurous.”

He says the Moroccan diet wrecked havoc on everyone else’s stomachs, causing interruptions during filming so actors could run to the port-a-potty.

As Vargas puts it, “We called it the ‘Zate’ [after the town]. It was like for some reason our bodies where rejecting everything we put in it...People were puking and crapping everywhere.”

The Hills Have Eyes 2 opens nationwide this Friday (Mar. 23).
