Conan OBriens former sidekick is now starring in the upcoming NBC comedy, Andy Barker, P.I., where he plays an accountant who does detective work on the side.
The two occupations may seem worlds apart but Richter sees lots of similarities. As he puts it, Both jobs are pretty boring.
However, Richter says the comedy will come from the way the show plays with cop show conventions. For instance, one scene has him giving tax advice during a car chase, while another has him avoiding getting shot by promising to sign a non-disclosure agreement about the incident.
Richter is enjoying playing the CPA scenes as well as the P.I. work, but admits hes probably better qualified to be a detective because, in his words, All it takes is someone to pay you to sit in a car, drink coffee and watch people.
Andy Barker, P.I. debuts March 15.
