College Student Sells Virtual Time For Real Money

OKEMOS, MI (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – They say “time is money” and one college sophomore is using the internet to put that phrase to the test.

Peter Sauer has just started a website called, where he sells a year’s worth of web time at a buck per minute.

Buyers can use the time they purchase to display messages on the website to either promote a business or send someone a greeting.

It sounds like a scam but, so far, Sauer has sold 2,585 minutes of time on the site, mostly to advertisers.

He is hoping to sell all 525,600 minutes in the next year in order to defray his college expenses at Grand Valley State University in Okemos, Michigan.

So far, he’s mostly sold minutes to advertisers, but is hoping to post more creative messages such as wedding proposals and jokes in the future.

He’ll accept money from almost anyone – except his own parents.

Says Sauer: “If my parents bought a time slot, they would use the chance to put up something embarrassing about me and that wouldn’t make me too happy.”
