Al Roker Battles Child Prostitution

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Weatherman Al Roker is storming over something more serious than cold fronts and high pressure: Child prostitution.

The Today Show weatherman has been investigating child prostitution at various American truck stops for a new Court TV special, Al Roker Investigates: Innocence For Sale.

During his investigation, Roker rode along in chase vehicles and was disturbed at how common child prostitution is in America.

As he puts it, “This is happening in places like Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – not Bangkok. In fact, they just broke up a ring in Oakland that was earning $32 million a year.”

Roker says the criminals who pimp the kids out could very well be your neighbors.

In his words, “We interviewed some of the pimps who were serving time in prison and while some were the low lifes you’d expect, others are erudite and intelligent with a good rap. One even had a teenage daughter of his own.”

Al Roker Investigates: Innocence For Sale debuts Monday (Dec. 18).
