Judas Priest Working On ‘Metal Opera’ About Nostradamus

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Who could have predicted that the heavy metal band Judas Priest is working on a “metal opera”?

Not Nostradamus, even though he’s the subject of the opera.

Lead singer Rob Halford says the band members are currently recording a heavy metal opera about the 16th century seer that they plan to perform in their own concerts and ultimately build into a separate stage show.

Halford – who is writing the lyrics in San Diego – says the band was attracted to Nostradamus more because of the “human element” than more predictable reasons.

As he puts it, “He was born a Jew and converted to Catholicism to avoid persecution and then he lost his wife and kids to the plague.”

If all goes well, the album, Nostradamus: A Metal Opera, will be released early next year and be followed by a world tour.

Halford is busy with other projects too. On November 28, he is reissuing three albums by his other band, Halford, as well as a brand new track, “Forgotten Generation.”
