Ronnie James Dio Gets His ‘Pick’ Of Film Roles

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio doesn’t have any acting experience but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get his pick of film roles.

In fact, Jack Black personally wrote a role for Dio in the upcoming comedy, Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny, which opens November 17.

In the scene, Dio appears from out of a concert poster to inspire the young Black with a song called “Kickapoo.”

Dio enjoyed the chance to go from a concert stage to a film set but even though the sequence helped him earn a Screen Actors Guild card, he has no illusions about switching to acting full time.

As he puts it, “Playing myself wasn’t really acting for me.”

The one challenge for Dio was keeping up the intensity of performing a 3-minute song while filming it multiple times over a 12-hour day.

In his words, “There’s a lot of waiting that goes on.”

Dio is looking forward to the film’s release and says it’s nice to be immortalized on film.

However, he’s keeping his focus on music and is working on new material until December, when he tours India for the first time.
