Horror Icon Finds It Hard To Be The Good Guy

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Robert Englund is best known for playing serial killer Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series, but the horror legend is playing it straight for his latest flick: Heartstopper.

It involves a psychotic mass murderer but, surprisingly, that’s not Englund’s role.

Instead, he plays a sheriff who is “a good guy” and he admits, at times, it was difficult not to pick up a machete on the set and join in the bloodbath.

So he distracted himself by chatting with the director about other things.

As he puts it, “We both love to gossip and talk about movies so it kept me away from the whole serial killer angle.”

Englund says fans shouldn’t be disappointed because his character is still “off beat.”

Meanwhile, he’s not cutting himself from Freddy. Englund says he’s heard talk of a prequel and says producers better get on it because “I only have one or two left in me.”

Heartstopper comes out on DVD on Halloween (Oct. 31).
