Nicolas Cage Should’ve Been Black

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Nicolas Cage is the biggest name in World Trade Center but he should’ve been a dark star.

That’s the opinion of Syracuse University professor Dr. Boyce Watkins, who says Cage’s role as police officer John McLoughlin is actually based on former Marine Jason Thomas, an African-American.

He says the role should have gone to Denzel Washington or Will Smith, and claims it’s proof Hollywood only casts white men as heroes.

Watkins hasn’t seen the film but says director Oliver Stone should “colorize” Cage for the DVD release.

As he puts it, “I think he’d be a pretty cool black man. He might get more chicks that way.”

Insiders are skeptical about Watkins since the real John McLoughlin – who is white – has been part of the WTC publicity juggernaut. However, there is a Sgt. Thomas in the film who is played by Tom Cruise’s cousin, William Mapother, who is also white.
